The Saturday Acca

Two Midlands rivals could be duelling for promotion this season. We're backing them both today, along with the Gunners.

We’re backing Arsenal to restore order at Villa Park and two of the favourites for promotion to the Premier League at best combined odds of 8/1 with BetVictor.

Arsenal 10/11 to win at Aston Villa:

There will be plenty of punters sniffing an upset here after Villa’s barnstorming start to the season, and after the Gunners were humbled by Dortmund in midweek. But let’s not be fooled, the Londoners should win here and they haven’t lost at Villa Park in their last 15 visits. Paul Lambert’s boys have had the fewest shots in the league (33) while Wenger’s unbeaten team have had the second most (66).

Derby 4/5 to win at home to Cardiff:

Things are very unlikely to get better for the Welsh side at least until a new permanent manager is in place. The Bluebirds have won none and lost three of their last four in the Championship, with two home defeats last week doing for Solskjaer. They face a Rams outfit who are going through the gears, but are still unbeaten in five across all competitions. Their 3-2 victory at Blackburn in midweek will really help confidence as well.

Nottm Forest 13/8 to win at Millwall:

The leaders are flying, unbeaten in nine across all competitions (W7 D2) and they’re fresh from putting five past Fulham on Wednesday. They face a Millwall team who started 2014-15 brightly before thudding down to earth in the last month (W1 D1 L4 including league and cup). Forest striker Britt Assombalonga already has 8 goals this season, as many as the Lions have managed in total from 7 league outings.
