The Saturday Acca

We're backing the wily old campaigners Pulis and McCarthy this weekend.

We’re throwing West Brom, Ipswich and Rotherham into a pretty unfashionable treble which might just come off at a best price of 14/1 with Bet365.

West Brom (19/10) to win at home to Spurs:

Tottenham can’t keep saving themselves with late goals, it just can’t last. They may be a decent cup team but a punishing fixture list combined with an over-reliance on 2-3 players will catch up with them eventually. Tony Pulis will relish the opportunity to prove this and the fact he has already sorted out the Baggies’ defence could prove the difference here. WBA deservedly won at White Hart Lane even without Pulis.

Ipswich (4/5) to win at home to Wigan:

The ‘banker’ in the acca but it was selected over several similarly priced options because of the gulf in quality here. Ipswich remain automatic promotion contenders having taken the most points at home in the Championship (29); that’s 8 more than Wigan have tallied up in total. Life hasn’t really got better under Malky Mackay yet with the Latics 8 points from safety and facing another relegation.

Rotherham (15/8) to win at Charlton:

The reason Wigan are 8 points from safety is that Rotherham thumped Bolton 4-2 in midweek. For a side who were struggling for goals that could be a season-turning result and I would expect the Millers to carry the momentum into the trip to the Valley. Charlton haven’t won in 11 outings in all competitions and not on their own turf since 21 October.
