Scotland are still mourning the loss of potential tournament football but this is a big game for the hosts.
We can get best odds of 10/3 (Coral) on Gibraltar scoring in a Scotland win as happened in Glasgow back in March. Essentially this is a bet on whether ‘The Rock’ can find the net, and I think they can.
Firstly, this is surely the best possible time to be facing Gordon Strachan’s team. The Tartan Army are still in shellshock after their qualification hopes went up in smoke after late drama on Thursday night. This isn’t a fixture they want right now.
But just as importantly, Gibraltar are knocking at the door for their first competitive goal at home, having also netted in Poland last month.
The British Overseas Territory also had 10 shots, seven of which were on target, against world champions Germany in June. If they keep anything like that level of threat up here then they are much more likely to break their home duck than the odds imply.
