Sunderland On A Roll

Tottenham v Sunderland Tips: Sunderland On A Roll

Sunderland are much improved under Allardyce and his team can capitalise on any nerves at White Hart Lane.

A fortnight ago the narrative was about a possible title challenge from Tottenham and in the blink of an eye the discussion is whether they can hold onto a Champions League spot.

That is the fickle nature of football, where the last result is the most memorable. In isolation the odd bad result doesn’t matter but if the Spurs faithful get jittery then a home game against Sunderland isn’t ideal.

On paper this looks a home banker but rarely do things pan out that easily, especially where Tottenham are concerned.

As for Sunderland they are on a mini-roll having picked up back-to-back wins and survival is no longer a forlorn hope. Since Sam Allardyce took over on the 9 October his side are averaging 1.15 points per game a dramatic improvement on 0.38pts per game they were averaging.

Some of Sunderland’s improvement has been down to the statistical quirk they are yet to draw a game in the league under Allardyce. I don’t think this is a tactical move, more variance because I’m sure the Sunderland manager would settle for a point this weekend.

That is where the value lies and Sunderland can avoid defeat in the early kick-off at 23/10 (BetVictor).
