Spurs v Man United: Scoreline Tip

It ended 2-2 in this fixture last season and this could be another close, lively affair.

The first match on Sunday looks like a classic case of the draw being the best bet at the longest price (11/4 Boylesports).

Man United are made the favourites (13/10 Coral) off the back of 7 wins in their last 8 but those statistics flatter them as they have benefited from a predominantly kind set of fixtures and a little good fortune.

In particular, the Red Devils remain ultimately unconvincing on the road. In victories over Arsenal and Southampton they really committed daylight robbery with the hosts dominating both matches in every aspect other than scoreline. Of course United deserve credit for being resolute, but I suspect their away form is unsustainable until the defence improves.

They are better than the side that didn’t win at all away until that trip to the Emirates in late November, but they aren’t as good as recent results suggest.

Spurs are almost as mercurial at home as United are away. But again they are an improving force who still have some way to go. Unbelievably they have won 7 games by a 2-1 scoreline since the start of November. This shows they can hold their nerve, but they aren’t dominating opponents.

This fixture finished 2-2 last season and something similar could be on the cards here. We can take 12/1 on that outcome with Betfred who will refund the wager as a free bet if it ends 1-1 instead.
