7th May 2015 | Europa League

Severely Tested Sevilla

The defending champions are bidding to lift the trophy for a record 4th time but it won't be easy.

The bookies make Sevilla nothing longer than 5/6 to win the first leg of their Europa League semi-final and that’s hardly surprising; Unai Emery’s team have won all their home games in the competition this season.

However, it’s worth noting that the Spaniards have only edged their last four Europa League fixtures on their own turf by a single goal margin and I think we can expect more of the same on Thursday at a best price of 13/5 with Bet365.

Fiorentina are no pushovers themselves and are actually unbeaten on their travels in this tournament in 2014-15 as well. After holding Tottenham 1-1 at White Hart Lane, they then pulled off a stunning 3-0 victory away to Roma to knockout their high-flying domestic rivals.

With a return match in Florence to come, the Serie A club would surely take the 1 goal defeat which would keep their hopes alive while Sevilla would feel a win’s a win. The potential mutual satisfaction makes the outcome more likely.
