The second highest scorer in the Champions League this season is making few headlines outside of Turkey.
He has a better goals per minute ratio in the Champions League than Lionel Messi this season, but you wouldn’t know it from the odds. Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz is a best price 29/10 (BetVictor) to score anytime against Schalke tonight and that looks like a bargain.
Messi is nothing longer than 2/5 (Ladbrokes) to find the net in Spain this evening having fired 5 goals in 572 minutes so far in the competition in 2012-13. But Burak, having been on the pitch only 19 minutes longer in the Champions League this season, has claimed 7 goals thus far. Only Ronaldo can beat that tally with 8.
The Turkish international first put paid to Cluj in the group stages with 4 strikes in 2 matches including a hat-trick in Romania. He followed that with a winner against Man United and a further key effort in Braga.
In the first leg against Schalke he opened the scoring with an expert finish and had three other efforts on goal. The bookies are convinced that Galatasaray are on their way out, but Burak offers legitimate hope for this return meeting in Germany.
