Reds Look To End Villa Hoodoo

Paul Lambert's boys have found Anfield a happy-hunting ground in recent years but Steven Gerrard loves playing Villa.

Liverpool deserve to be huge favourites for this game after their emphatic dismantling of Spurs a fortnight ago, but Villa have done enough this season, and in recent clashes against the Reds, to suggest it could be hard-fought.

Interestingly, Paul Lambert has never lost at Anfield as a manager and his current charges are undefeated on the ground since 2010 and have won there twice in recent years. The Villains have an impressive seven points from the opening three fixtures of 2014-15 to sit third in the table.

That all said, the Merseysiders will surely still get the job done over the course of 90 minutes. Mario Balotelli makes his home debut and will surely make some sort of impact while Steven Gerrard has scored 12 career goals against Villa. They should be able to cope without Daniel Sturridge this week.
