Derby have seemingly lost their bottle at the worst possible time while Wigan are plotting the great escape.
I’m not sure if everybody has realised just how badly Derby County have choked as they slowly slip away from the automatic promotion battle. They are now in serious danger of missing out on the playoffs altogether.
Steve McClaren’s men were top after victory on 24 February but they haven’t won in seven outings since as the wheels have come off. On Good Friday, they disastrously blew a 2-1 lead against 10 men as Watford equalised late on. With that, realistic hopes of the top two disintegrated.
Meanwhile Wigan have revived hopes of staying in the division by winning three away games since 24 February. The Latics acquitted themselves well in a 1-0 defeat at league leaders Boro last time out and they will sense they can take the spoils in front of their own fans at last.
At a best price of 13/5 (BetVictor), Wigan look pretty tasty against the self-destructing Rams.
