Pressure Set To Mount On Pochettino

The rot appears to have set in at Tottenham and the suspicion is that things will get worse before they get better.

The second Sunday match has a remarkably similar dynamic to the first with one of the smaller sides in the division at home to an under-achieving big boy. Indeed, if Hull win (13/5) they will move above struggling Tottenham, and that looks like a worthy bet at the price.

Those who think Spurs will triumph here (5/4 Coral) will probably base that belief on two factors. Firstly, the Tigers haven’t scored a goal in their last 3 outings and haven’t won in 4.  But that run isn’t nearly so bad as it appears when you consider that the opposition has included Arsenal, Liverpool (both away and both draws) and Southampton.

Admittedly the last result, a 1-0 loss at Burnley was very disappointing, but I would back Steve Bruce to get a response after citing that as their worst performance since he took charge in 2012.

I’m not so sure Mauricio Pochettino can drag a big response from his motley crew after a humbling home defeat to Stoke last time out. This despite the second thing seemingly in Tottenham’s favour, that they have done better away so far this season.

But truth be told Spurs were hugely fortunate to snatch their victories at Aston Villa and West Ham. Arguably only luck has distinguished between their home and away form and one suspects that is running out for Pochettino in a more general sense now.
