Where Eagles Repeatedly Dare
Palace have won 4 times in Manchester since late 2018, twice at the Etihad and the last two trips to the Red Devils. The odds don't change much, and the gap between these two sides may actually be closer than ever.
Crystal Palace head to Old Trafford as underrated as ever. No matter that their last three results there have been 0-0 followed by 1-2 and 1-3 victories. The focus is all on Ralf Rangnick, but did Man Utd have their new manager bounce already with Carrick?
You can get odds of 19/2 with BetVictor on the Eagles winning with both teams to score, and it’s hard to argue there isn’t at least some real value there.
Admittedly, the immediate form book points towards the home win with United earning impressive results at Chelsea and Arsenal in the last seven days, while Palace lost twice. But the relative performances were less clear cut.
United would have lost to Chelsea on the balance of play more often than not, while the 3-2 victory over Arsenal did nothing to suggest the defence has suddenly got impenetrable. The Palace game at Leeds could have gone either way, and was settled by an injury time penalty.
The margins should be quite tight again here, and neither side can be expected to keep a clean sheet.
Viera’s boys scored twice at Man City, Arsenal and West Ham, with more players than you might expect having muscle memory of winning this fixture. Guaita, Kouyate, Mitchell, Ayew, Schlupp, Zaha and Eze all featured in last season’s success.
