Turf Moor's The Pity

The Clarets are finally enjoying life in the big time but don't expect many goals for anybody here.

I was tempted to back a third consecutive top flight victory for Burnley here, something they haven’t achieved for nearly 40 years, but at best odds of 6/5, there are better options out there for us.

Arguably the best of the lot is taking under 1.5 goals in the match at a best price of 2/1. The odds look generous even if you only consider that 46% of games involving Sean Dyche’s boys this term have witnessed one goal, or none at all.

But when you factor in that Aston Villa Premier League matches have seen the fewest total number of goals, the wager becomes truly compelling. Paul Lambert’s side have only mustered 24 shots on target all season and Christian Benteke remains a painful absence, but they can normally defend relatively well. It all points to a cagey Turf Moore nail-biter.
