Tottering On The Edge
I have a funny feeling that Tottenham are about to get a rude awakening. This fixture has minimal meaning now that Arsenal and Man Utd have imploded; Spurs have bigger fish to fry in early June!
On paper, it might look a bit odd. We’re backing both the Champions League finalists to lose at home at the prices available. But there is method to the madness!
Everton head to White Hart Lane in rude health after just one defeat in their last seven outings (W5 D1) and they are undeniably fresh compared to their intoxicated hosts. Back the Toffees at best odds of 11/4 with BetFair.
Don’t let anyone fool you. Spurs are there for the taking on Sunday. The heroes of Wednesday night who can play will be exhausted; Son is suspended while Vertonghen, Rose and Wanyama may all miss out through injury, in addition to Kane and Winks.
Let’s also not pretend that Pochettino’s boys have been performing in the Premier League lately. The three wins in the last 11 all came against bottom-half opponents and alongside a new stadium bounce. That seems to have deserted them for the time-being.
