16th May 2015 | Premier League

The Saturday Acca

We're backing these 3 sides to win on the penultimate weekend of the Premier League season for a variety of reasons.

We’ve reached the time of year when some teams are preparing for their biggest matches of the season while others are simply fulfilling contractual obligations. We have a 22/1 accumulator (Betfred) which tries to account for what’s going on at different clubs.

Stoke (15/8) to win at Burnley:

Should a relegated side who have scored once in their last seven fixtures really be favourites to beat a side ninth in the table? Surely not. Add to that, Stoke ran out 3-0 winners over Spurs last time out and still need a result to confirm their best ever Premier League campaign.

Everton (8/5) to win at West Ham:

The Toffees are unbeaten in 16 matches across all competitions against West Ham and can overtake their hosts with a victory here and finally reach the top half. This looks likely to be Sam Allardyce’s final home game in charge of the Londoners and a run of 16 points from 18 games means he shouldn’t expect a fond farewell.

QPR (21/10) to win at home to Newcastle:

I can’t pretend it’s easy to call the winner of a match between two crisis clubs! However, the pressure has been lifted off QPR now that relegation is confirmed while the Magpies remain crippled by it. Chris Ramsey will be desperate for a response and a home victory for his own job prospects; opponents who have lost 5 away games on the bounce without scoring offer that hope.
