Star Men Elevating The Blues

Chelsea are keeping clean sheets again, largely thanks to the return of Kante and the exile of Luiz. Meanwhile Morata and Hazard are doing the business down the other end.

The late kick-off on Saturday will be hotly anticipated as two sides on great form meet at Anfield.

Much has been made of Liverpool’s record against the rest of the big six last season, but they’ve already lost heavily in 2017-18 to Man City (5-0) and Spurs (4-1) and been held at home to Man Utd (0-0). The 4-0 thumping of Arsenal came in August and looks like the outlier.

Chelsea are back in their stride and have wins at White Hart Lane, and at home to Man Utd recently, to draw upon. They have won their last four in the top flight but let’s focus on the last three.

That’s when Kante returned to the side and it’s no coincidence that has led to a run of clean sheets. Down the other end Morata and Hazard are also back amongst the goals but that won’t be the ultimate difference here.

Liverpool also have great attackers but Chelsea are the ones who can defend consistently. Conte showed his bravery and tactical nous by replacing Luiz with Christensen after October’s 3-0 defeat to Roma and the combination of that, along with the return of Kante, has had the desired effect.

The Reds have their good days at the back but surrendering a 3-0 lead to Sevilla in midweek shows they are still a level below the reigning champions.

Chelsea can take the points here at a best price of 13/5 (Williamhill).
