South Coast Stalemate

This rarely spoken about south coast derby sees two pretty even matched sides who both defend slightly better than they attack. Back the draw and under 2.5 goals at 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

Southampton are favourites but it’s hard to justify that despite some of the stats which suggest they are underachieving. In terms of total shots per game they rank 5th in the Prem - above Man Utd and Chelsea. But they can never seem to convert that into enough shots on target and therefore goals.

Chris Hughton is getting the most anyone could hope for out of this Brighton side and a point here would keep them very nicely mid-table and extend their home record to one defeat in five.

Saints have been slightly better away than at St Mary’s throughout 2017 and both sides would surely be content to share the spoils here, making it ever more likely.
