Sherwood Like A Win

There are signs that Villa are about to come out of their rut while West Brom are still winless in 8 on the road.

The easy thing to do is to look at Aston Villa’s long winless run and then look at Tony Pulis’s impact at the Hawthorns and simply conclude that West Brom will win.

However, football doesn’t work like that and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Tim Sherwood secure his first league victory against local rivals.

The reason for optimism within the home dressing room is the most recent performance. Villa were very competitive in defeat at St James’s Park at the weekend and had 14 attempts on goal. On another day, they could have won.

Furthermore, however well Pulis has got the Baggies playing, they still haven’t won any of their last eight away outings. The deadly duo of Berahino and Brown are both injury doubts for Villa Park so the omens aren’t great for ending that sequence here.

Villa are a best price 6/1 to win 1-0 but we should lose half a point and take 11/2 with WilliamHill who will refund if the match ends 0-0 instead - hardly unthinkable.

*Bore Draw Refund. If the match ends 0-0 WilliamHill will refund losing bets on selected markets, up to £50. T&Cs apply.
