Saturday Draw Treble

There’s not a lot to choose between the teams in several of the Premier League showdowns on Saturday afternoon so it’s a good opportunity to take advantage of the bookies’ natural generosity towards draws.

The Eagles are on pretty awful form having started to concede more often to add to a more longstanding goalscoring affliction. Suspensions to Zaha and Tomkins add to Hodgson’s pain while Leicester have scored in 9 away games in a row. But the Foxes weren’t great in a 2-0 home loss to Spurs last time out and lost their games against Palace by a combined 8-0 last season.

Huddersfield v Newcastle:

There has been remarkable symmetry to the campaigns of these opponents so far. Neither team won till the start of November, prompting a better run of results all round, but both have now returned to humble ways with neither winning in their last 3 outings. Town always compete at home, but have only won once. Exactly the same can be said about Newcastle on the road.

Wolves v Bournemouth:

The bookies have this one down as the least likely draw, with the hosts well-fancied, but Bournemouth must deserve a little more respect than that. The Cherries are admittedly on a bad run (W1 L5) but they still sit 8th in the table, above Wolves, who have struggled for consistency too. Chelsea are the only top-10 outfit they have beaten all season.
