Southampton sit in a false position in the league. They rank in the top-5 for shots & shots on target and results should improve soon.
Southampton are safely ensconced in mid-table but it’s not a fair reflection of their play.
Southampton are fifth in the league in shots per game (14.7) and shots on target per game (4.8). Defensively they are tenth in shots allowed per game (12.3) but somehow they aren’t getting the results and sit 12th in the league.
Ronald Koeman has a job to lift his players after a wretched run of four defeats in five but if he sticks to his methods (and there is no evidence he is wavering), his team’s results should bounce back sooner rather than later.
Arsenal are by no means unbeatable and have a short turnaround after playing Man City on Monday. A Southampton home win is priced at 11/4 (BetVictor) and that looks the value play.
