Reds Improving Against The Non-Elite
Last year Liverpool blew it against the smaller teams. This season has flipped around with their only defeats coming at Man City and Spurs. The lesser lights have been dispatched.
It’s not often I would back Liverpool & Under 2.5 goals in the match but we have to respect what Brighton have achieved so far this season. It’s a best price 14/5 shot with Ladbrokes.
There are two main things to note about the Seagulls. Firstly 71% of their league games have seen 2 goals or fewer in 2017-18. Indeed, they are 1 of only 4 teams yet to concede 3+ goals in any top flight match. The others are the Manchester clubs and Spurs so they are in good company.
Secondly, despite Brighton’s fine start to life back in the big time, they have tended to come up short against the very top sides. Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd have all taken the spoils and they are yet to face Spurs or Chelsea, But the big boys all won either 1-0 or 2-0 which informs us for this bet.
Liverpool have started to defend a bit better generally despite the second half aberration in Sevilla. They have only conceded 2 in their last 5 Premier League games and can follow in the footsteps of their peers at the Amex.
