Red Machine To Power On

The Europa League may prove to be a burden for Swansea City as they now face Liverpool hot on the heels of Napoli.

Swansea have a dismal record at Anfield and there’s no reason to think that will improve any time soon. Liverpool are nothing longer than 1/3 (WilliamHill) to win on Sunday, which is never alluring, but the Reds are 9/5 (PaddyPower) to win both halves, which feels like much better value.

It was 5-0 in this fixture last term and Brendan Rodgers’ team are far more formidable 12 months on. Between Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho, they boast three of the league’s top four players when it comes to most attempts on goal. Only Sergio Aguero breaks up the Merseyside stranglehold.

Meanwhile, the Swans have tasted victory just twice in their last 12 top flight outings; form which cost Michael Laudrup his job. Admittedly, Garry Monk has started in encouraging fashion, but his boys are likely to still feel the effects of a long Thursday evening with Napoli. Anfield is no place for weary visitors.
