Red Devils and Saints Promise Entertainment

The outgoing champions could at least finish the season with the best away record in the league.

The last day of the season traditionally sees a sackful of goals, particularly in games where there isn’t a great deal at stake. A year ago, in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final match in charge, Man Utd drew 5-5 with WBA. Twelve months on and we can certainly say that the United defence hasn’t improved so anything’s possible here!

The outgoing champions have continued to score goals in 2013-14, particularly on their travels. Intriguingly, an away win at St Mary’s will actually give United the best away record in the league; the majority of the problems have come at Old Trafford.

Southampton have only failed to find the net in seven of 37 league outings while the Red Devils have only been shutout three times on the road. The conclusion must be that a clean sheet at either end is most unlikely. With Ryan Giggs desperate to end his caretaker spell on a high, United to win with both teams to score looks like a bargain at best odds of 7/2 with Bet365.
