Premier League Treble

It's a big day in the battle for Champions League spots after Chelsea and Everton dropped points yesterday. The North London derby takes centre stage.

Sunday has become the traditional day for a boosted Premier League acca during the Covid era. Of those ones out there, PaddyPower’s enhanced 9/1 on Leicester, Spurs and Manchester United appeals the most. The game between Southampton and Brighton feels too close to call.

Leicester v Sheffield Utd:

Although Leicester’s Champions League bid has been somewhat derailed by home fixtures they should win, they remain 3rd and in control of their destiny. The Foxes have key injuries to contend with but Ieanacho is stepping up to ease the reliance on Vardy and they should have enough here. The departure of Chris Wilder is a strange one in its timing, and I can’t see it providing a lift to Sheffield Utd here.

Arsenal v Tottenham:

Another eagerly awaited North London derby even if the tussle begins with neither side inside the top six. Arsenal have improved generally since Boxing Day, but when all said and done, 2 wins in their last 7 league games isn’t great. Spurs are the team with true momentum after 5 straight wins in all competitions. With Kane and Bale on something close to top form, they should never be underdogs here.

Man Utd v West Ham:

It actually takes a little price boost to get me backing against West Ham these days with David Moyes continuing to work miracles. But Manchester United’s showing in their 2-0 victory at the Etihad last weekend was one of the performances of the season. If they can come close to those levels, they will edge this crucial clash. Both sides are missing key personnel, but perhaps on loan Jesse Lingard will be the biggest loss against his parent club.
