Premier League Top Goalscorer Tip: Mo Salah
He's an old Betting Bias favourite who we were enjoying backing way back when he was a relative unknown at Basel. Now he's lighting up the Premier League.
It’s time to re-assess who we think can finish 2017-18 as the Premier League’s top scorer and the man currently leading the way is worth backing each-way at a best price of 16/1 with Bet365.
The bookies have clearly decided that Mo Salah’s phenomenal start to his Anfield career can’t continue in such dramatic fashion. The Egyptian international has bagged 9 top flight goals, not to mention a further 4 in the Champions League.
The odds makers see 5 other players as better long term bets for goals but a closer look at shot statistics suggests that Salah’s considerably bigger price is a mistake.
The 25-year-old averages 3.5 shots per game with 3.0 of those coming from inside the penalty area. In other words, high percentage chances. This compares favourably to every other player in the top flight with the exception of Harry Kane, who at nothing longer than 13/5 (Ladbrokes) can be opposed.
Salah is getting as many good chances as Lukaku and more than Morata. He is fractionally behind Aguero but it’s looking increasingly like Guardiola will keep rotating the Argentine with Jesus, which makes them both less appealing Golden Boot prospects.
By backing the Liverpool man each-way we get paid out at quarter odds if he finishes in the top three. That means a healthy profit even if Kane and one of the others overtakes.
