Premier League Top Goalscorer Tip: Harry Kane

He didn't score his first league goal till November last season so imagine what the England striker could do as the main man from the outset this time.

One intriguing footnote when reviewing the top Premier League scorers in 2014-15 is that the top three all missed a good deal of pitch time.

Sergio Aguero played 2540 minutes for his 26 goals and is an understandable favourite at 3/1 (PaddyPower) to retain the Golden Boot. But the Argentinian has endured two campaigns of injury setbacks in a row and represents a risk at such a short price despite his talent.

Second favourite is Diego Costa (6/1 BetVictor) who fired 20 goals in just 2085 minutes last term. Again, the numbers are impressive, but that doesn’t mean we should back the Chelsea striker who is endlessly beset by hamstring injuries. Furthermore, it’s hard to imagine the Spaniard not picking up the odd suspension.

Instead, the man who could be the best bet, at the biggest price, is Harry Kane - a 14/1 prospect with PaddyPower. The new darling of the media struck 21 times in 2582 minutes last season.

The big difference here is that the Spurs striker actually played 51 matches in all competitions and is likely to accrue a lot more Premier League minutes in 2015-16. Initially, the 22-year-old was barely being used in the top flight by Mauricio Pochettino, instead being saved for Europe and the Capital One Cup.

Kane therefore didn’t bag his first league goal till November so imagine what he could do given a proper run from August this time around.
