Premier League: To Finish Bottom Tip

A great opening 2 successes in August shouldn't hide the winless 4 months since. Changing manager hasn't yet brought a goal in 3 games, including encounters with Palace and Swansea.

With the bottom 10 clubs in the Premier League separated by just 6 points, now is an intriguing time to take on the ‘to finish bottom’ market.

Swansea are the bookies’ punchbag at nothing longer than 11/8 and, despite looking forlorn hopes to stay up, they should be opposed not least because of their experience of turning things around in the second half of last season.

Instead I think we should consider West Brom at a best price of 8/1 with Ladbrokes. Yes they pulled off a credible 0-0 draw at Anfield last night but this is a side who have now gone winless in 15 Premier League matches. If it hadn’t been for a heady double victory start to the campaign back in August, they would already be cut adrift.

Furthermore, the Baggies have already made the decision to can their manager, removing Pulis in November. There has been no ‘bounce’ under Pardew who failed to deliver success against Palace or Swansea, indeed they are yet to score under the new boss - the main reason he was brought in was to improve the attacking proposition!

Things could get worse before New Year with 3 tricky home games to come against Man Utd, Everton and Arsenal, plus a trip to Stoke. It’s easy to see that winless run at 19 top flight games heading into 2018, which is an entire half season.

8/1 will probably be long gone by then so we should move now. The squad lacks quality and it will be hard to bring in genuine improvement in January if a relegation fight beckons.
