Premier League Player of the Year Tip: Harry Kane

A much shorter price to finish top scorer, ironically his remarkable assist record for Son could stop that happening. But POTY is there for the taking after 13 direct goal contributions in just six league games.

Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in the early conversation for the title but I’m very surprised to see that prospect considered a shorter price (7/1) than Harry Kane winning his first Player of the Season award at 8/1 with BetVictor.

The England captain has made a simply sensational start to the campaign. He has 5 goals from 6 league outings but that barely begins to tell the whole story. His 8 assists are twice as many as the next best, taking his direct goal contributions to 13 - beating a record held by Thierry Henry from 2004-05 for the most explosive start to the season.

If Kane can stay fit, for the most part, then he could surpass the goal contribution tally of last season’s award winner, Kevin De Bruyne (G13 A20). The Spurs’ favourite is already over a third of the way there from less than a sixth of the season.

KDB is still the bookies’ favourite despite a mediocre start to his defence (G1 A1). This market tends to settle down towards the merited favourite eventually so back Kane before he becomes too obvious.
