Newcastle Can Stop The Rot

Newcastle have been poor lately but Cardiff have been even worse.

It has been a miserable couple of months for Newcastle. Six defeats in a row hasn’t materially altered their league position but it’s heaped pressure on Alan Pardew.

With little to play for, the convenient narrative of ‘players going on holiday’ has been used to explain results. That might not be completely true but the bare facts are Newcastle haven’t played well.

Normally this would place them in the ‘avoid’ category when it comes to betting but not when they face the worst team in the division. If they cannot beat Cardiff they really have got problems.

The Welsh side are bottom of the league and in truth they deserve to be there. They have mustered just 10 points away from home all season, no surprise when you look at the underlying stats.

Cardiff Away From Home

Cardiff shots per game: 9.7
Cardiff shots on target per game: 2.8

Opposition shots per game: 19.5
Opposition shots on target game: 6.0

Cardiff have been dominated away from home, registering half the number of shots/shots on target of the opposition.

Newcastle don’t have to be good to win at 11/10 (BetVictor) because Cardiff are that bad.
