New Boys Can Stay Unbeaten
The Saints can't justify their heavy favouritism here, especially away from home. However, backing the Terriers to win might be buying into the Huddersfield hype too much.
Southampton come into this fixture as favourites, ignoring much of the evidence we have seen so far. The draw looks the most likely outcome at best odds of 12/5 with Bet365.
The Saints have had a kind start to the season with three home games on the bounce which have resulted in a 0-0 with Swansea, a hard fought 3-2 win over 10-man West Ham and a cup defeat to Wolves.
That most recent match is interesting because Pellegrino played a strong side which were undone by a Championship team full of reserves.
Huddersfield are on cloud nine as they sit second in the table and it’s tempting to think they could extend their 100% record. But Southampton have been a top half side for a while now and sooner or later they will click.
They have averaged 21.5 shots per Premier League game so far, only Arsenal have had more, so I can’t see Town shutting them out completely. But the Terriers have the bit between their teeth and can match them this afternoon.
