Mourinho's Away Day Special

Chelsea don't tend to lose matches in August or away to their big rivals where the priority is always a clean sheet.

To listen to the paper talk this week you might assume Chelsea were in crisis and had already thrown away their title. But they didn’t actually lose last weekend, despite playing for a long time with 10 men, and they will probably show their mettle on Sunday.

Nobody is saying that the Blues have clicked into top gear as of yet but Mourinho can still call upon the same personnel who made up the best defence in the Premier League last season. In times of so-called trouble, the Portuguese starts by shutting up shop.

The champions don’t need to win at the Etihad but avoiding defeat is imperative. They will leave with a moral victory if they escape from arguably their greatest rivals with a point.

And Chelsea have done just fine against City since ‘The Special One’ returned. The Londoners won home and away in 2013-14 and drew twice when that was all that was required last term.

Back in April, Mourinho masterminded a comfortable 0-0 draw at in-form Arsenal and ‘no goalscorer’ could be well worth a look here at 10/1 with Betfred.
