When these sides clashed pre-pandemic, Watford ended the runaway league leaders' unbeaten run. But the 2019-20 champions are arguably looking better now than they were at that stage of their title charge.

Claudio Ranieri makes a welcome return to English football at Vicarage Road, but surely anything close to the 3-0 home win that occurred last time these sides met can be discounted. Then again, we thought that in February 2020.

But we’re going to stick to the assumption that lightning won’t strike twice, and instead look for a way to find a workable price backing the resurgent Reds. The 2/5 on a Liverpool win is improved to a more palatable 20/23 with Boylesports, if we back over 2.5 goals in the match as well.

That has been the Liverpool way on the road for a while now. Klopp’s boys have scored 3+ goals in each of their last six away matches, in all competitions. With Mo Salah the man of the moment, that sequence could continue here.

We also can’t discount a new manager lift helping the Hornets find the net. But that would be more likely to help our bet than end the Merseysiders’ long unbeaten league run of 17 matches.
