Man City v Chelsea Preview

Man City v Chelsea Preview

Despite an array of attacking talent City and Chelsea have second and third best defensive records in the league whether that be goals or shots conceded.

The expectation for the Man City v Chelsea clash is free-flowing football and plenty of goals. Over 2.5 is around the 8/11 mark but this undersells both teams’ defence.

Man City have a nasty habit of conceding a goal but normally it is only the one. In 13 Premier League matches only Tottenham have breached City’s defence more than once.

Things are even more miserly over at Chelsea, where Conte’s men have conceded only one (coincidently against Tottenham) in their last seven league matches.

In terms of shots, Chelsea and City concede on average 8.5 and 8.6 shots per match, when adjusting for game state. They are ranked second and third respectively, only Liverpool are better at shutting out the opposition although they have a habit of offering up premium chances.

Betting on an absence of entertainment (goals) might not be popular but in a game between two evenly matches teams under 2.5 goals is the value at 23/20.
