Leaders Likely To Edge Plucky Black Cats

Chelsea are looking close to invincible but Sunderland have only lost once on their own patch this season.

You won’t find an edge simply backing Chelsea to win this game (2/5) but you might find greater reward by anticipating it to be much closer than many might think. The league leaders are 13/5 (Ladbrokes) to win by just one goal.

There’s no point wasting time explaining why the unbeaten Blues should triumph, so let’s just focus on why the Black Cats are likely to put up a fight. Firstly, they have only lost three league games in 2014-15 with seven draws the reason for their lowly position. At the Stadium of Light, Sunderland have only recorded one loss, and that was to Arsenal when Poyet’s boys were at their lowest ebb.

Since then the Mackems have bounced back with a win and two draws to show they do have the stomach for a fight. Mourinho used to delight in notching up 1-0 away wins and he might revert to old habits this evening.
