Klopp's Defensive Warriors Eye Record

Amazingly United have gone 8 league matches unbeaten against one of their most bitter rivals just as the clubs' respective fortunes have largely reversed. The table suggests the sequence can't last.

There are some optimists out there who look at Manchester United’s bleak 16-point deficit from Liverpool and conclude that Jose Mourinho has no choice but to go for victory. Think again.

If the beleaguered Red Devils’ boss claims a third 0-0 draw in a row at Anfield he’ll herald it as a fabulous triumph against the odds at the table-toppers.

Realistically though there is just too big a quality and confidence gap between the sides right now and Liverpool should win with under 2.5 goals in the match at best odds of 16/5 with Ladbrokes. That’s a lot better than the 4/7 on the Merseysiders simply taking the points.

It’s Klopp who has mastered the art of defending this season and his side would set a top flight record for fewest goals conceded after 17 matches with an 11th clean sheet here.

Liverpool only beat Fulham 2-0 and Everton and Brighton 1-0 at Anfield this season, and either scoreline would very much do them again here, and us.
