Klopp Due A Blip
Liverpool are getting fulsome praise for their results but they were on the cusp of a setback against Leicester. A trip to Wembley proved painful last December and Tottenham are more than capable of bouncing back here as underdogs.
The bookies have determined Liverpool clear favourites for the big lunch-time kick-off as the Premier League resumes but that makes Tottenham worth backing at best odds of 11/5 with Betfred.
This was the fixture when Spurs really made a home of Wembley last season, storming to a 4-1 victory. Yes the visitors have improved since then, but home advantage still matters and besides have Liverpool really impressed as much as bare results suggest so far?
Last time out they were clinging on for dear life against Leicester and we could easily be talking about this match in the context of a 2-0 lead being blown. The week before they were hardly that impressive either, edging past Brighton 1-0 at Anfield.
Of course Pochettino’s boys did blow a lead and came acropper against Watford a fortnight ago. That led to damning assessments of ‘same old Spurs’ but the margins between what they did and Liverpool’s trip to the King Power Stadium are extremely minimal.
Tottenham’s thrilling 3-0 victory at Old Trafford is the most impressive result either of these sides have produced thus far in 2018-19 and the hosts here can bounce back and catch-up the Merseysiders in the early league table.
