Ings Can Only Get Better

Averaging 5.1 shots per90 mins and riding high in the expected goal charts without the reward. Still early days but Ings could make a big impact for Southampton this season.

Not much originality here as it’s almost the same tip as last weekend but once you find an edge it’s worth exploiting until it disappears. Danny Ings failed to find the net last weekend against Leicester but he managed another two shots taking his total to 11 for the season but given his limited game time that equates to 5.13 shots per90 mins.

Small sample size withstanding, that is Harry Kane-type shooting numbers and the locations are good, he is currently ranked 5th in the league for expected goals. The concern with Ings is that given his past injury record Mark Hughes seems reluctant to give him the full 90 minutes; he was surprisingly withdrawn after 70mins when Southampton needed a goal.

With that in mind i’ve modified the bet to a first goalscorer each-way that means the bet is more weighted towards him scoring first but with insurance if he scores anytime. That slightly mitigates the risk of him being subbed with a larger reward for scoring first.
