Gunners Could Rue Giroud Departure

The Frenchman's stats for club and country stack up well when per minute analysis is done. With Morata out, he can hit the ground running for Chelsea.

Olivier Giroud could emerge as a key player in the battle for Champions League spots having completed his move from Arsenal to Chelsea on deadline day.

The 6ft 4in striker was bereft of opportunities in North London of late but still contributed 4 Premier League goals in just 375 minutes for the Gunners this season. That’s nearly a goal a game when extrapolated so we should back him to score anytime on Monday, when he should start, at best odds of 11/8 with Bet365.

Another sign that the 31-year-old remains a potent force when given ample opportunity lies with form for his country. Giroud scored 8 goals for France in both 2016 and 2017 and remains integral to Deschamps’ plans despite a wealth of competition for places.

Watford enjoyed their first clean sheet in 12 attempts against Stoke but we shouldn’t expect another one against a Chelsea side with something to prove after their setback against Bournemouth.
