Frankly, It's Not Ideal

Chelsea have played better than 2 opening defeats indicate but the sense of matches going against them has the potential to continue for Lampard's home debut with the dangerous Foxes in town.

Although I’m on record as saying that Chelsea will end up doing better than many people think this season, there’s no getting round what an awkward start Frank Lampard has been handed. A trip to Old Trafford, followed by 120 minutes of midweek Super Cup action and now a first home fixture where there’s an expectation of victory, yet highly capable opponents stand in the way.

Leicester offered no respite for Sarri during his time in the Chelsea dugout either, claiming a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge last Christmas. Jamie Vardy was the match-winner on that occasion and I’ll take the 6/1 PaddyPower offer on him breaking the deadlock again.

The former England striker has really come to life under Brendan Rodgers but his credentials against the ‘big 6’ are long established. Last season alone he scored against Man Utd, Spurs, Chelsea and twice against Arsenal.

Back him each-way as ‘First Goalscorer’ with Paddy, and if he scores any of goals 2-5 in the match instead we still get paid out at 1/3rd odds.
