Everything Changes But Stays The Same

Everything Changes But Stays The Same

Victory against a hapless Sunderland doesn’t mean all is well at Chelsea again. Watford will provide a tougher test.

Jose Mourinho leaves Chelsea and immediately there is an upturn in results as his old team dispatched Sunderland.

If Mourinho really was the problem then perhaps we need to re-think our opinion of Chelsea but a sample size of one game isn’t much to go on. I’m of the opinion the problems run deeper and therefore backing Chelsea to beat Watford at 1/2 is brave – bordering on lunacy.

Watford have ten more points than the champions and arrive at Stamford Bridge on the back of a four game winning streak.

Their underlying statistics are also encouraging. Watford average 4 shots on target per game compared to Chelsea’s 4.3 and their respective defences are hard to split. Watford allow 12.1 shots per game compared to Chelsea’s 12.

In summary we have two evenly matched teams but one playing with confidence and the other trying to salvage something from a train-wreck. The value is in the double chance market where Watford are 15/8 (Paddy Power) to avoid defeat.
