Everton & Spurs Well Priced To End On A High

The Toffees have removed Martinez so expect an immediate uplift while Spurs are determined to finish above Arsenal and in fitting fashion after a great season.

Two big teams who have had very contrasting seasons should go out on a high against opponents relegated this week. A Spurs/Everton double is a best price 9/4 with Betfred.

Tottenham let it slip last weekend against Southampton, which was perfectly understandable right after their title bid had ended, but minds will now be refocused on cementing a top-two finish over north London rivals Arsenal. Harry Kane also has a Golden Boot to try and wrap-up.

St James’s Park won’t be the happiest place on Sunday afternoon. Yes the players and Benitez may avoid vitriol, but Mike Ashley and the so-called ‘Cockney Mafia’ should expect some hostility.

Let’s not forget that Spurs have claimed more than twice as many points (70) as their hosts (34) so odds approaching evens on the away win are plenty generous.

As for Everton, they have been pretty hopeless of late but the dynamic will have changed now that Roberto Martinez has been removed as manager. Former favourites Joe Royle and David Unsworth take charge for this one and with the talent at their disposal, expect the Toffees to go out on a high. They owe supporters a performance, particularly at Goodison Park.

Ironically, Norwich put in one of their best performances of the season on the night their fate was confirmed in midweek; relegated despite winning 4-2 against Watford. I don’t think they’ll repeat that so soon after their disappointment, and eight defeats in their last nine away games gives you a truer reflection of why they are second bottom of the table.
