City Suffer CL Hangover

City Suffer CL Hangover

Man City average 1.3 points per game after a Champions League fixture compared to 2.3 when they have a clear schedule.

Man City were humbled last week at the Etihad and although one game doesn’t spell a crisis, I wouldn’t be piling into them to beat Southampton at 1/2.

So far this season Man City are averaging 1.25 points per game after a mid-week Champions League fixture compared to 2.33 points per game without one.

We have to take into account the small sample size and the opposition but there might be value in opposing City this week.

Southampton slumped to a shock defeat at home to Stoke last weekend but generally their form has been good. That was their first defeat in seven Premier League matches and only their third of the season.

The Saints are ranked fourth in expected goal difference (albeit some way behind the top-3) and are in the top-8 with shots for and against.

They look the value at 8/5 (Bet365) to avoid defeat at the Etihad.
