Burnley's Luck Running Out

Burnley keep defying expectations so perhaps they will lose a game they are favourites to win.

For the majority of the summer recess i’ve been telling all and sundry how bad Burnley were in 2016/17 and what certainties they are for relegation. Their underlying numbers were wretched and selling arguably two of your best players during the transfer window should spell disaster. So it was typical Burnley that they confounded expectation and beat the defending champions on the opening day of the season.

In typical Burnley fashion they were out-shot and ‘beaten’ by 0.89 expected goals. Perhaps Sean Dyche really is a genius/magician and I need to reassess my opinion but I cannot shake off the feeling they’ve been living on borrowed time and sooner rather than later it will all come crashing down.

I suspect Burnley will lose half of their games this season and get relegated, therefore anything above even money on them losing looks like value to me. West Brom did a classic Pulis 1-0 in the opening round of fixtures and I fancy something similar again. The 1-0 is available at 8/1 with Betfair but i’m playing it safe with a West Brom win at 21/10.
