Brighton Finding Life Tough
Watford have recruited well and seen immediate improvements in results and underlying metrics. Brighton are struggling all round.
At the start of the season I wrote about how impressed I was by Watford summer recruitment both managerial and playing personnel and it’s yielded immediate results. For sure they won’t finish the season in the top-4, where they currently stand but their underlying numbers have massively improved on last season.
It’s early days but Watford have a positive shot and expected goal differential and their results have come without a positive skew in shooting or save percentages. In short the improvement is real.
Brighton on the other hand have found the step up in grade tough. They aren’t creating much, they are averaging 0.24xG per90 so far this season and they are allowing too many shots. It’s a dangerous recipe against an improving side.
