AWOL Goalscorers at the Emirates

Giroud, Ramsey, Jovetic and Aguero may all be missing or below par on Saturday and that changes the outlook for this heavyweight clash.

In a game where it’s hard to find a great betting angle, backing at least one team to fail to score looks like the right value option at best odds of 13/10 with Coral.

The bookies always expect to see plenty of goals when the big sides lock horns, and normally they are right to do so, but on this occasion, both managers have concerns in the attacking third.

Arsene Wenger must do without Olivier Giroud and quite possibly Aaron Ramsey who injured his ankle when playing for Wales on Andorra’s dubious pitch in midweek. The duo have contributed 60% of the Gunners’ league goals so far in 2014-15. Danny Welbeck’s mediocre goal record at Old Trafford suggests we shouldn’t get too carried away by his debut, despite his England success.

In the other dugout, Manuel Pellegrini could be without Stevan Jovetic, while Sergio Aguero continues to have fitness concerns. Those two have contributed 80% of Man City’s league goals between them this season. With Arsenal boasting the best home defensive record last term, Saturday could be another frustrating occasion for the champions after their debacle against Stoke.

We only have to see one side labour to win this bet and at considerably longer than evens money, it becomes very tempting.
