Arsene End In Sight
It now feels like every fixture is conspiring against Wenger. Man City twice in a row, an in-form Brighton away on Sunday and then AC Milan looming large on Thursday.
This really is the wrong game at the wrong time for Arsene Wenger. It was bad enough facing Manchester City twice in 4 days but a tricky visit to an in-form side you’re still expected to beat has the potential to be even worse.
Brighton are a bit of a gift at best odds of 10/3 with WilliamHill after 4 games unbeaten, with the highlights being resounding home victories against West Ham (3-1) and Swansea (4-1). Murray is defying his age while Locadia and Ulloa wait in the wings if he does tire. Izquierdo, Knockaert and Gros have confidence and goals in them as well.
Arsenal have only won 3 of their 14 away league games in 2017-18 which makes a mockery of their odds-on price with every firm.
It gets even worse. The away trip to AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday has now become the biggest game of the season for the Gunners with the Premier League a write-off. Wenger may have to let that inform some selection and substitution decisions at the Amex.
