Anfield Awaits Goal Rush

The two games last season produced 11 goals and what evidence is there of a different approach from either side now?

I really don’t know how anybody can predict a winner at Anfield with any confidence today but I feel bullish about the possibility of over 4.5 goals in the match at best odds of 10/3 with BetFair.

Last season these two teams ranked 2nd and 3rd for total goals in their matches, only topped, surprisingly, by Bournemouth.

Of course when Liverpool and Arsenal meet the goals really tend to flow. The two league clashes in 2016-17 produced a total of 11 goals - a 5.5 average.

There is little to suggest 2017-18 is going to be any different. They respecitvely began with a 4-3 victory (Arsenal) and a 3-3 draw (Liverpool) before some respite last week. It looks like the calm before the storm.

Both sides are a joy to watch going forward while their fans remain long-suffering about their defensive inadequacies. Both also know the value of not starting with one win from three. It’s a recipe for goals.
