Plucky Burnley Can Compete At Etihad

The Clarets are high on confidence after consecutive wins and they've already drawn at Old Trafford this season.

Man City v Burnley has been priced up as if it’s a battle between the best team in the league against the very worst. Neither of those are the case.

I wouldn’t be foolish enough to suggest that Burnley haven’t been poor on the road but they still represent value at a best price of 6/4 in the +2 handicap market with StanJames. This means we will cash in if they win, draw or lose by just the odd goal.

The case for that happening can easily be made. Firstly, the Clarets will be brimful of confidence following their best result of the season - a 4-1 hammering of Sunderland which made it back to back victories.

Secondly, they have begun to compete on the road. In their last two away matches they only lost 1-0 and 2-1 to West Ham and Spurs respectively. They also drew 0-0 on their other visit to Manchester this season at Old Trafford.

For their part City arrive off the back of defeat and they have already dropped points at home to Everton, Southampton, Chelsea and Boro this season. It could be closer than expected today at the Etihad as well.
