Norwich v Wolves Tip

Sometimes a run of four games without a victory can sound a lot worse than it really is. Norwich City are on such a sequence but when you consider that those fixtures included trips to Newcastle and Stoke and a home fixture with Man Utd, it puts things in perspective. They lost all those tough encounters by the odd goal, and after the fine season they have had, it’s nothing to worry about.

On an even worse run, and with every reason to be panicking are Wolverhampton Wanderers. The word crisis is often overused in football, but it seems perfectly apt to describe the situation at Molineux. Unlike the Canaries, the west Midlanders are getting thrashed on a regular basis. A 5-1 home defeat to WBA meant the end for Mick McCarthy, but things have only got worse from there.

Terry Connor saw his side begin March with a 5-0 defeat at Fulham; that was the same scoreline when Man Utd came to town last weekend. Inbetween, there was a 2-0 loss at home to Blackburn which was arguably the most significant of all.

Wolves are now rooted to the bottom of the table and it’s hard to see how the situation is going to improve anytime soon. Club captain Roger Johnson may return to the side having been axed for disciplinary reasons - the suspension of Ronald Zubar has created an opening. But Connor’s biggest headache comes in the centre of midfield where David Davis has now joined Karl Henry and Jamie O’Hara on the injury list.

Norwich have had an excellent season on the whole and their primary asset is they score goals - only Blackburn have found the net more times outside of the top six. Odds of 4/5 (Coral) on the home win don’t look too inspiring so I think we can take a punt on a heavy margin of victory instead. Norwich are a best price of 5/1 (Coral) to win by three goals or more; that looks pretty likely if the Wolves wheels fly off yet again.
