Norwich v Wigan: Scoreline Tip

Gomez: Needs to get back on the goal trail

Wigan's greatest assets are team spirit and memories of previous great escapes.

The thing about Wigan is there are very few times in the last few years when you would confidently predict them to win. But regardless, thus far, they have pulled out just enough results to keep them in the top flight. This year the their task looks bigger than ever, but every time they look like they might get cut adrift from the pack, they find three points from somewhere.

In 2011-12 there have only been four such occasions so far, and three of them have come away from the DW Stadium. Crucial victories at WBA, Sunderland and Bolton have all come by a 2-1 scoreline; at best odds of 14/1 (bodog) they might just do it again at Norwich City on Sunday.

The Canaries have had a fine season and with mid-table respectability all but assured, they might just take their foot off the gas. Three consecutive defeats in all competitions have included 2-1 reverses at Carrow Road to Manchester United and Leicester City in the FA Cup. That scoreline keeps on popping up; hardly surprising when these two sides keep so few clean sheets.

The Latics face upcoming trips to Anfield, Stamford Bridge and the Emirates so Roberto Martinez will have made it clear to his players that this is likely to be their best chance on the road for a while. With Victor Moses and Hugo Rodallega set for recalls, this may be one of those rare days when they can grab a couple of goals.
