28th May 2016 | Champions League

Nando's Time

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker has finished the season with a flourish and could yet have the greatest night of his club career on Saturday.

The 2016 Champions League final is intriguing, not least because of what happened in the 2014 showpiece, but from a betting perspective the bookies look more clued up this time around.

Back then Atletico were unfancied despite having just won La Liga title but this time Simeone’s boys are more marginal underdogs at a best price of 12/5 (Betfair) to win in 90 minutes. Real are shorter at 6/4 (Betfred) but having won their final 12 league games, that seems fair enough.

The glimmers of value, as so often, probably come in the anytime goalscorer market. The extraordinary Ronaldo is always worth a look when odds against and he’s 5/4 with Sportingbet after 16 goals in this season’s competition.

But at nearly three times the price, the truly best value proposition is probably Fernando Torres at 3/1 to score in 90 minutes with Bet365.

The 32-year-old is making no secret of regarding this as the biggest game of his life. Perhaps more importantly he has finished this season with his best form in years, scoring seven times in his last 10 starts.

It remains to be seen whether Atletico will make history, but the man who made his debut for the club in 2001, will see Saturday night at the San Siro as his destiny.

*Not only are Bet365 offering best price on this bet, they will also give you a risk-free £50 in-play bet when you stake £50 pre-match on the Champions League Final. If you lose this in-play bet, Bet365 will refund that same amount back to you. T&Cs apply.
